With the global objective of achieving a net zero emissions energy future, there is a strong transition towards electric vehicle (EV) production, leading to rapid growth in demand for the Li-ion batteries that power them.

 

With tremendous volumes of Li-ion batteries coming to market soon, there will be significant manufacturing scrap and waste batteries discarded amidst a growing supply-demand gap forecast for the critical metals (lithium, nickel and cobalt) creating high supply-chain risks. Securing a domestic supply of these raw materials is vital to mitigate the national security risks involved, as North America is currently highly dependent on nations abroad for these valuable resources.

 

The only long-term sustainable solution to solve these problems is through RECYCLING.
